The Code of Ethics are set of principles of professional conduct, a benchmark to which the dentist must aspire when fulfilling their duties to their patients, public, profession and colleges. It promotes ethical conduct, professional responsibility and facilitates dialogue on common problems in dental practice.

The strategic plan for the Indian Dental Association (IDA) was developed following a detailed assessment of member feedback which identified the need to strengthen the dental fraternity. This information has allowed the association to chart a new course that builds upon the success of the past.

The 2010-15 IDA Strategic Plan is only one component, in the further development of the association. The specific initiatives in the plan are subject to further review and refinement by IDA’s Central Council and the state branches. Through heightened levels of member engagement the plan will deliver the outcomes required to enhance the professionalism, standing and viability of the dental fraternity.

Founded with the goal of providing dental professionals a different learning experience, Fellowship Programmes offer a roadmap for those who want to consider entering an academic career. IDA currently offers fellowship programmes in six categories that range from 6 months to 1 year time span.
Clinical Research, a branch of healthcare science, determines the safety and effectiveness of medications, diagnostic products and devices and treatment regimens intended for human use. It is different from clinical practice where the focus is on established treatments, while in clinical research the focus is on collecting evidence to establish a treatment.
Clinical Research can offer job opportunities in abundance along with the BDS qualifications allowing dental professionals to set very high standards for themselves in their careers.
The dental practice accreditation programme is IDA's endeavour to represent and better serve our fellow dentists. The accreditation will provide benchmarks for excellence and expertise. The broad objective is, to both standardise and improvise the practice of dentistry. We intend to usher in a new era in dental practice at par with international standards.
